W.B. Saffell The Whiskey Barons Collection Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

W.B. Saffell is the fourth in The Whiskey Barons Series from Campari.
Pitched as ‘an ambitious undertaking to recreate the taste of the original Pre-Prohibition liquids’, each whiskey in the series was created by ‘consulting original tasting notes from historical files, finding old product descriptions from packaging, and interviewing surviving family members’.

This release is named after William Butler Saffell, who built his ‘350 barrel distillery’ adjacent to the railroad northwest of Lawrenceburg in 1889. The W. B. Saffell distillery continued on until Prohibition, when its doors closed forever. The Saffell Distillery, its buildings and brand, were eventually lost to time. Campari launched Whiskey Barons Collection in 2017 to bring attention to these lost Lawrenceburg bourbon brands.
W. B. Saffell Bourbon Whiskey was distilled at Wild Turkey distillery under Eddie Russell’s supervision and released in 2019.
The bourbon is composed of barrels aged 6, 8, 10 and 12 years, all distilled at Wild Turkey using their 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley mash bill.
