Lagavulin 18 Year Old Iain's Farewell Dram Single Malt Whisky

Iain's Farewell Dram from Lagavulin is a strictly Limited Edition in honour of the whisky maker Iain McArthur. Lagavulin’s legend and warehouse manager has announced his retirement after 50 years, and the brand is celebrating his illustrious career with this special bottling.
Lagavulin 18 Year Old Iain's Farewell Dram is an experiment into unexplored areas of taste. Matured Lagavulin has been filled into Spanish second-fill Manzanilla casks. Manzanilla is fortified wine and has similarities to sherry, but it is drier and therefore interacts very differently with the taste of Lagavulin.
Iain managed the entire process himself: from the selection of the cask to the labelling. He hand-poured and signed each of the bottles.
Only 212 bottles released, making it one of the distillery's rarest bottlings.

Nose:    Aromas of smouldering embers, cereal, green orchard fruits, crisp apple, vanilla, yogurt, and sherry. White peppercorns and tea emerge, leading to notes of toasted cardamom, cinnamon, and peat.

Taste:    Smoke, apple and cinnamon, hints of chili pepper.

Finish:   Very long and powerful finish with a lingering peppery tingle.
