Bruichladdich Octomore 15.2 5 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

Octomore is the super-heavily peated single malt produced by Bruichladdich distillery, the most routinely heavily peated in the world. The whisky is named after the farm of the same name, located on a hillside north of the town of Port Charlotte. Having been traditionally an un-peated single malt due to the needs of its former owners for their blends, Murray McDavid were quick to diversify the Bruichladdich portfolio, also introducing the more lightly peated Port Charlotte and Lochindaal.
This Limited Edition Octomore 15.2 was distilled in 2018 from the 2017 harvest using 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley. Originally filled into a combination of second fill wine casks and second fill bourbon casks. In 2023 the spirit was re-casked into first fill Cognac casks for the remainder of its maturation. Peated to 108.2 PPM.

Nose:    Sweet citrus, lime zest and lemon meringue pie open on the nose, followed by toasted oak and a hint of earthy smoke. A medley of tropical fruit enhances the vibrancy of the single malt whisky, balanced with woody spices, smoked honey, toasted bread, and roasted coffee.

Taste:    Viscous in texture, the sumptuously smooth spirit brings vanilla custard, caramel, toffee and a crack of black pepper. Charred oak, cinnamon and a hint of nutmeg provide added depth with pear drops and dried apricot cutting through Octomore’s inimitable peat smoke.

Finish:   An unmistakable maritime quality lands on a finish, with waves of salt spray settling on the palate while peat embers linger.

Please note: The Octomore range outer tins are extremely prone to dings and scratches. The tins often arrive into our warehouse suffering from minor damage in transit. This is out of our control. When we dispatch to our customers, we will re-pack to avoid further damage in transit but collectors should have reasonable expectations in this regard.
